This lovely cello was completed by Hugh Withycombe in late 2010. Based on Ruggieri model its full arching and Lombardy poplar back from the Victorian Gold Fields, give it a warm mellow tone. It has an open sound with a rich dark C and G string and sweet ringing A and D. This powerful cello has a quick response, good projection and feels easy to get around in the higher positions. This instrument is suitable for both ensemble and solo work. Available for trial at Atelier Puglisi in Melbourne

This cello is modelled on an original by David Tecchler (1719). Made from top quality European maple and spruce it features high arching which gives it a beautifully focussed tone with no wolf notes. Completed July 2010, it is my tenth cello.

This is a 'sister' to the other cello made by me which is listed on this site. Its a Rogeri model and has a big, clear and responsive dark sound.

The model I used for this cello is G.B. Rogeri. However I did not adhere strictly to this model for carving the scroll or F holes. I obtained the maple for the back and sides from Canada. It is called Quilted Maple and the figure is dramatic.The top is carved from Sitka Spruce. This cello was finished in 2010 here in Adelaide.It sounds awesome.
