Viola by Sydney Instrument Maker Justin White

I am a Sydney based maker of violins and guitars and the viola for sale is a recently completed instrument by me. The body is 16.5 inches and is modeled on a Stradivari pattern. It features European Spruce and Maple construction, Ebony fittings, and oil varnish. The instrument has a big sound and is even in tone across all strings. The price is for the instrument only (no bow). A used but good condition case comes at no extra cost. The price being asked is very low for a handmade instrument with a professional standard sound. I live in Sydney and urge any prospective buyer to come to me and try the instrument, or arrange for someone to do so. If you cannot arrange to view it then I can provide more pictures and information via email or phone. Please note also that the instrument is advertised for sale elsewhere and its availability is subject to other interest. The instrument has a big sound and will be suitable for the advanced/tertiary student through to the semi-professional or professional range and represents good value for money. The violin comes with a case but no bow, however I can negotiate the supply of a bow at extra cost if necessary. Jacob Stainer violin with a sound more powerful than the stadivarius but shorter, said in 1700 about an antiquarian who studied the wood and re-varnished in 1995 by one of the best luthiers in Madrid Spain Rafael called it an oil varnish old high quality

Gliga I, 5 string

This is a second hand swell back version of the Gliga 1 range. Gligas are hand made in Romania. It is in very good condition with minimal scratches I’m also throwing a bag in as well. This is a copy of a strat..it is handmade and in top condition for its age....it was purchased at an deceased estate auction.Fake starts made in factories after 1800 were forced to include date and country..this one is unmarked making it i would say around 1750...it is hand made as it has all the hand made tell say lines...i know as i am a luthier by trade..this was not made in a factory and made with simple hand tools...can explain over ph...The older the timber the better the sounding.. melbourne area west 53682796 im not allowed to put pics up with out paying if u give me email i wll supply pics. vampire_guitars@hotmail.com

Otto Durrschmidt Violin Bow c1950. Officially appraised by Alex W Grant (5 Aug 2011)who writes "It comprises of an octagonal pernambuco stick with silver mounted ebony frog which is decorated with Parisian eyes: the adjuster of ebony fully sheathed in silver. It weighs 64.5 gms" "The 'nose' of the ivory faceplate is broken off and there is a chip of pernambuco wood missing from the nearside facet of the handle of the stick. The bow is generally in very good condition and, bearing the above in mind, it has a value of $2,900"

1927 Herbert Stanley Sampson Violin

Herbert Stanley Sampson worked for A.E. Smith in Melbourne before opening his own workshop. This beautiful instrument has been officially appraised by Alex W Grant (a copy of the appraisal can be emailed as requested)who has described the violin as "in excellent condition" and valued it at $10,500 (as of Aug 5th 2011). There is a similar H.S. Sampson violin of the same year in the Power House Museum (NSW). Please also refer to Alan Coggins book "Violin and Bow Makers of Australia" for further details on H.S. Sampson.

Karel Vavra violin for sale,bearing label "Karel Vavra Prague, 1975". It is in mint condition and has a beautiful one piece back. Bought in 2008 from dealer overseas. It has hardly been played on because it is not my main instrument. Selling now because in need of money. These are dealer's photos, taken under bright lights. 100 year old Cello Guadagnini copy

This fine looking cello was bought in England 50 years ago and served me well. Selling for health reasons. This instrument has a deep, richly resonant sound lending itself especially to chamber music and orchestral playing. New strings (Larsen, Tungsten and Pirazzi). It comes with a Seitz bow recently rehaired.

Made in China. Bought new from Animato in Red Hill, Brisbane in 2002. Only used for 6 months by daughter then in final year of highschool. Has beautiful sound and has recently been restored to original condition by Animato. Buyer would need to pick up from Auchenflower.
