| Description | Violin is the 96th of 132 violins made by Australian maker of Hungarian origin, Les Belanyi. It is in excellent condition with recent professional set up. Sound quality has not been compromised by its smaller size (see video), it is ideal for average to slightly smaller size players. A video of the owner playing the instrument has been included as a link. The instrument comes with a case but not bow. Dimensions : String Length - 326mm. Upper Bout - 165mm. Lower Bout - 204mm. Length of the back - 350mm. Fingerboard - 260mm. BELANYI, Laszlo (Les) (b.1935) Violin maker and repairer, Blakehurst, NSW. Hungarian who learned violin playing in Germany and came to Australia in 1950. Worked as violin repairer for Landis Music, Park St, Sydney in early 1970's. To 2008 had made 132 violins, 20 violas, and 3 cellos. Uses traditional, Canadian and Australian timbers. |
