| Description | John Simmers and Rainer Beilharz are proud to present for sale this Brescian model viola. The instrument is a one off collaboration between John and Rainer who worked together on the instrument in Brisbane and Guildford in 2009 and 2010. Although not an exact copy, the viola is inspired by and made in the spirit of Gasparo da Salo. Smaller violas are becoming very popular and this instrument was made with playability, volume and tone colour in mind. The neck and fingerboard dimensions and string spacings are similar to that of most violins. The instrument was a true collaboration with the work divided evenly between the two makers – both having a hand in all parts of the instrument and working simultaneously in the same workshop. |
